Depression happened to you. It does not get to decide who you are.
You may not feel like yourself right now, but that does not mean you are lost. Together, we can find an approach that helps you move toward the life you want.
What Is Depression?
Depression is more than feeling sad for a few days. It's a real, treatable medical condition that changes how you think, feel, and function, and without treatment it can last for weeks, months, or longer.
It's also one of the most common mental health conditions there is. If you're dealing with it, you're not weak, and you're not alone, and there are real, evidence-based options that help.
Common Types of Depression
- Major depressive disorder — persistent low mood and loss of interest that gets in the way of daily life
- Persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia) — a lower-grade depression that lingers for two years or more
- Seasonal affective disorder — depression tied to shorter, darker days
- Postpartum depression — depression that develops during or after pregnancy
- Treatment-resistant depression — depression that hasn't improved after trying standard treatment
Common Symptoms of Depression
- Persistent sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
- Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy
- Low energy or fatigue, even after rest
- Changes in sleep or appetite
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
- Feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt
Medication changes biology. Therapy changes meaning. Together, they can do more than either does alone.
